Here you will find titles used and Acknowledged by ATKS and ATKSA. All titles given to students will be approved only by the Instructor of that school or Shihan Douglas J. Welsh, Founder of American Tiger Karate Schools, when appropriate.

Titles used by ATKS and ATKSA

Sempai - Assistant Instructor

All students with Junior Assistant Instructor, Assistant

Instructor or Junior Instructor Certification

Sensei - Instructor, Black Belt Level

All students with Sensior Instructor Certification

Renshi - Highly Respected Martial Artist

4th Degree Black Belt with Senior Instructor or Master

Instructor Certification

Master - Master of Martial Arts

5th or 6th Degree Black Belt with Master Instructor

Certification

Shihan - The Master of Highest Master

Founder of system (Shihan Douglas J. Welsh) and any

other Black Belts

7th Dan and above with Master Instructor Certification

Traditional Titles acknowledged by ATKS and ATKSA

Mudansha - All Dan Levels

Sempai - Master-at-Arms in a Dojo
